Recipe for 14 portions of Tomato and Pepper Sauce

450g chopped red and orange peppers (capsicums or bell peppers)
300g chopped onions
2 tbsps tomato puree
5 x 400g tins of chopped tomatoes
2 tbsps cooking oil
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
salt and black pepper to taste
small handful fresh basil leaves
2 tsps sugar
